The Job: Maintenance Person A Purpose Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, assists maintenance mechanics and electricians with the installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of equipment related to steam, chilled water, and electrical generation for the plant and utility distribution system; performs heavy cleaning of the physical plant and satellite facilities; performs maintenance work and miscellaneous related duties as assigned. Performs cleaning out of plant, offices, tunnels, equipment, tools, and shop areas. Maintains work areas in a clean and safe condition. Operates lifting and rigging equipment. Operate company vehicles for pick-ups or deliveries as needed. Performs custodial duties as required.
Maintains the plant?s exterior and walks, including groundskeeping, window cleaning, trash collection and removal, sweeping of walks and passageways, and snow removal from walkways and driveways.
Works as a helper assisting maintenance personnel with the installation, overhaul, repair, and maintenance of equipment including boilers, chillers, turbines, diesel engines, pumps, heat exchangers, piping, valves, motors, circuit breakers, batteries, transformers, generators, and auxiliaries.
Performs re-lamping and cleaning of the plant, office, and satellite facility lighting systems. Reports damages and malfunctions to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
Performs painting duties in the plant and on equipment. Responsible for job preparation, surface preparation, paint application, and clean up.
Maintains organization of OSHA required maintenance equipment and PPE.
Performs duties of the safety watch as needed.
Maintains shop equipment, tools, and hardware.
May participate in the plant fire-fighting brigade.
Must observe and comply with all standard safety codes and practices and perform work in accordance with recognized trade and company standards and, where applicable, local, state, and federal laws.
Must participate in mandatory training and other programs.
Carries out other duties as assigned.
Requires individual with a high degree of professionalism.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Must be detail oriented and able to take direction.
A willingness to acquire new skills and utilize technology to streamline processes and problem solve is essential.
Valid Massachusetts Driver?s License preferred.
Training as a power plant maintenance technician.
Preferred experience: diesel maintenance, refrigeration maintenance and or pipe fitting / welding experience.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.
Must be able to lift/carry up to 65 lbs.
Must be able to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, balance, and reach overhead.
Must be able to tolerate dust and other airborne particles and other materials such as diesel and lube oils.
Required to wear personal protective equipment.
Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, high-lifts, and in confined spaces.?
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum one to two years applicable experience.
Valid Massachusetts Second-Class Fireman.
Power Plant / Industrial maintenance experience. ?
